I’ve been working on this new painting, and I’m so excited to share it with you!

I love this piece because it’s so chaotic and busy. I struggled a lot with the composition—how do I make something that looks like a mess of shapes into a cohesive image? What happens when you have too much going on in one painting?

But then I realized that’s actually an area of painting: maximalism. And it’s cool! It’s like, there are so many different ways you can paint an image and make it look interesting.

The thing is, though… I still like how this came out. I feel like my style has evolved over time and become more abstract, but the idea behind it hasn’t changed—I still want to create a busy composition, even though that might be considered too much for some people.

And now I’m wondering if maybe if I just make my paintings bigger, it’ll solve the problem of having too many elements in one place at once—maybe if there are more canvases around them then they won’t seem as overwhelming?

We’ll see!
